Best 6 Terrasses in Downtown & Old Montreal in 2024

As summer fades into fall, Montrealers have just a few short weeks to savor the ultimate pleasure of terrasse season. This time of year is when restaurants open their rooftop or outdoor patios, typically running until late September or early October. Here are my top picks for the best terraces to visit before they close!

Muze Lounge and Terrasse

Perched on the 5th floor of the Hotel Honeyrose in Quartier des Spectacles, Muze Lounge and Terrasse is a tropical escape right in the city. From flamingos to chic mood lighting, every detail is meticulously designed, making it one of Montreal’s most beautiful spaces. The covered terrace is spacious, allowing you to relax rain or shine without feeling cramped—a rarity in Montreal! The Mediterranean-inspired menu is incredible; we couldn’t get enough of the gourmet arancini with truffle and parmesan cream. Their cocktails are unique and beautifully presented. We shared a Jale Fresa pitcher, featuring Jose Cuervo Especial Tequila, jalapeño, strawberry purée, passion fruit, and lime juice. It serves about 8 glasses, perfect for sharing!

The elegant terrace offers panoramic views of Notre Dame and the Saint Lawrence River, making it the perfect spot for sunset watching. This rooftop bar & restaurant boasts an impressive lineup of signature cocktails, pitchers of sangria, and a menu filled with summery dishes, including a raw bar. I highly recommend the ‘Passion Amour’ cocktail, a tequila and passion fruit creation, and the ‘Poulet Katsu Sando,’ featuring succulent chicken, chipotle mayo, cabbage, and marinated cucumbers. They also serve breakfast and brunch, and with live DJs and a bustling atmosphere, booking in advance is a good idea!

The cocktail menu is fantastic; we enjoyed the Princesse Peach pitcher with Bacardi, peach purée, mint, lime, and maple, and the Air du Thym with Rosemont white rum, Sivo Shaman, thyme, and pineapple. With a live DJ setting the mood, it’s a lively spot, so booking online in advance is recommended.
