Unmissable Activities in Quebec City: A Complete Guide to the Best Experiences

I recently visited Quebec City for the first time, after living in Montreal for 2 years. I had always heard amazing things about Quebec City, but nothing quite prepared me for how magical it truly is. I decided to drive from Montreal to Quebec City and the drive itself was beautiful, with rolling landscapes and charming little towns along the way. But once I arrived in Quebec City, I was completely enchanted. With its cobblestone streets, centuries-old architecture, and French-speaking atmosphere, Quebec City is a true gem of North America. Whether you’re a history lover, an adventure seeker, or someone who simply loves the charm of a small European-style city, Quebec City has something for everyone. So, if you’re planning a visit to this incredible place, here are some of the unmissable activities that should be on your list!

Getting to Quebec City from Montreal: The Best Ways to Travel

Traveling from Montreal to Quebec City is relatively simple, and you have a few options depending on your preferences for time and comfort:

  1. By Car (Drive) If you prefer flexibility and the option to stop along the way, driving from Montreal to Quebec City is a great option. The drive takes about 2.5 to 3 hours (roughly 250 km). The journey is pleasant, with scenic views of the countryside, and you’ll have the freedom to explore small towns like Trois-Rivières along the way.
  2. By Train (Via Rail) Via Rail offers regular train services between Montreal and Quebec City (Gare du Palais), making it an easy and comfortable option if you prefer to relax during your trip. One way tickets can be as low as $43 per person. The journey takes around 3 hours and 15 minutes, with comfortable seats, onboard Wi-Fi, and beautiful views of the landscape. If driving isn’t an option, I would suggest travelling by train. Check out my via rail experience from Toronto to Montreal here!
  3. By Bus The bus trip takes around 3.5 hours and is operated by Orléans Express, with prices starting around $45.
  4. By Air While you can technically fly from Montreal to Quebec City, it’s not the most efficient option considering the relatively short distance. However, if you’re in a rush or have a tight schedule, it can be a quick way to get there.
